Interview preparation techniques, speaking and writing skills, IELTs, IGCSE
A varied selection of reading passages is provided, with higher forms focussing on a variety of reading skills as well as extensive reading practice. For writing skills, there will be links between language and functions and their application in various writing tasks. Students will become familiar with a variety of techniques, formats and genres for writing.
There will be extensive coverage of grammar in most of our courses. In particular, students will learn how to apply the grammatical structures they have learnt by applying structures in tasks and communicative activities. As well as developing vocabulary through reading, students will partake in various vocabulary-building and word formation activities.
Speaking activities become an increasingly important part of our courses as students reach higher levels. Various pair-work and group work activities will be held, and students will also be asked to give presentations. Various listening skills will also be covered. In lower forms, activities are designed to be fun and challenging. In higher forms, a more exam-oriented approach will be used.
In higher forms, particularly in S5 and S6, there will be an increasing emphasis on examination skills. Analysis of question types and formats and exam techniques as well as extensive practice of past papers and mock papers will be given.
